This position is skilled stenographic work. Work involves taking and transcribing verbatim testimony in a variety of court proceedings. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Court Reporting School. Two years of stenographic experience or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience. Other duties include but are not limited to: attends scheduled court proceedings and records, verbatim, all business and testimony by use of a stenotype machine or by shorthand. Transcribes and types court orders and proceedings according to well-defined priorities; proofreads completed transcripts. Marks and takes custody of all exhibits offered in courts and swears in all witnesses.

Starting rate of pay: $30.52 per hour. Benefits include Paid holidays, Paid time off, Retirement plan, and Medical/dental/vision coverage.

Somerset County, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for an Official Court Reporter in the Court of Common Pleas.  Duties include stenographically recording criminal/civil trials and proceedings as well as all other matters heard before the Court.  This 35-hour-per-week position starts at $40,000 with additional income earned by producing verbatim transcripts and yearly percentage increases. The position includes benefits of medical insurance and prescriptions, paid vacation, personal time, sick leave, 13 holidays, and participation in the County of Somerset’s pension program. Reading, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for an Official Court Reporter in the Court of Common Pleas.  Duties include stenographically recording criminal/civil trials and proceedings as well as all other matters heard before the Court.  This 35-hour-per-week union position has a salary based on experience with increases after 6 months and 2 years of successful employment up to $74,000 with additional income earned by producing verbatim transcripts.  The position includes full benefits of medical insurance and prescriptions, vision/dental, paid vacation, personal time, sick leave, 14 holidays, and participation in the County of Berks’ pension program. Court Reporting Position - Lawrence County

Dominick Motto, President Judge of Judicial District No. 53, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, has an opening for an Official Court Reporter. The position will be filled as a Stenographer. The starting salary for Court Reporters is $20.45/hr. Court Reporters also earn additional transcript income.

Court Reporter Candidates must have graduated from a court reporting school approved by either the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) or the National Verbatim Reporters Association (NVRA).

COURT REPORTER REQUIREMENTS: (1) Knowledge of various software programs included but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe; (2) Demonstrated skill in English grammar, spelling, composition and punctuation; (3) Ability to accurately perform the transcription of court proceedings, that reduces the spoken word into a verbatim written record; (4) Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and to establish effective working relationships with the assigned judge and other court personnel, attorneys and the general public.

PREFERRED: (1) Training and/or experience in legal terminology and procedures; (2) Work experience as a court reporter; (3) Courses and/or experience in administrative and recordkeeping practices (paralegal, legal secretary, etc.).

Court Reporting Positions – Lancaster County

The Lancaster County Courthouse has available court reporting positions in eclectic Lancaster, PA. Starting salary is $53,742. You will receive a $500 yearly bonus for each certification you’ve acquired.  We offer a generous page rate as well as insurance benefits, sick and vacation time, and don’t forget the 13 paid holidays!

Reporter will provide equipment and software of your choosing with a sizable monthly equipment stipend. NCRA and PCRA dues , seminars and CEUS are provided by the County.
